Porro @ West Out East Westport, Connecticut

07.10.24

Porro changes location in Connecticut and moves to the new West Out East showroom in Westport, a lively town situated on Long Island Sound, with the Saugatuck River running through it. Thanks to its parks and beaches, Westport offers an alternative for those who wish to live surrounded by nature, just 40 miles from New York City.
Designed by the architecture, interior design, and decoration firm WCA West Chin Architects & Interior Designers, the new store combines Porro's custom furniture and systems, showcasing the brand’s ability to craft ever-evolving narratives, interpreting local lifestyles and giving voice to the unique and personal desires of its inhabitants.

Designing spaces with sharp and elegant lines: in the living area, a Porro classic, the Load-it bookcase by Wolfgang Tolk, ideal for creating equipped walls and boiserie, is showcased in a custom full-height and full -length double composition, surrounding the door, with wall panels and steel shelves. The composition on the right includes a space for the television and a suspended multifunctional Modern board in oak barrique with a Valentine Grey marble top, elegantly accommodating books and multimedia equipment.

In the wardrobe area, the open wardrobe and walk-in closet Storage, designed by Piero Lissoni + CRS Porro, feature cuvée metallic elements and white cherry fittings, a light Nordic-inspired finish that reproduces
the cherry wood grain while softening its pinkish hue with more neutral, versatile tones.
At the center of the room, the new Storage Isola chest of drawers incorporates the standard equipment that makes the Storage bedroom system unique and combines them in an infinite range of possibilities: here, it features a leather top, open compartments in beige lacquer and drawers in white cherry, creating a new multifunctional container to complete the dressing room, in home environments and in the most refined contract settings.
The Porro wardrobe area is adorned with objects from the styling set designed by Elisa Ossino and crafted by the artisans of the Contrada degli Artigiani, part of the Fondazione Cometa in Como. This is a place where master craftsmen pass down the secrets of ancient traditional trades to young people facing challenging social, economic, and personal situations. Additionally, the wardrobes feature tailored garments from Cooperativa Alice, which, in its 29 years of activity, has supported over 450 women in difficulty through social reintegration programs, teaching beauty through the art of Italian tailoring.

In the living room, on the wall covered with Layer panels in eucalyptus, a striking dark black wood, a large Pivot partition rotates around a hinge, functioning as a door.
The living area is enclosed by the bifacial System bookcase with irregular grid and structure, shelves, and drawers in heat-treated elm. Additionally, a display cabinet with hinged doors and transparent glass shelves is included, designed to store the most precious items, highlighted by the light from newly adjustable spotlights.

Serving the kitchen, a Storage Battente cabinet with Piana doors and Boite Aux handle, enclosing interiors in hemlock ash, is perfectly integrated into the wall, which is covered with Layer panels in eucalyptus. Raised on a Bridge foot, with a structure, top, and doors in black river, and open modules lacquered in ivory with transparent glass shelves, a Modern sideboard designed by Piero Lissoni + CRS Porro reveals the playful spirit of this system which, without ever being excessive, showcases the savoir-faire and creativity of Made in Italy, embodying a new form of decorativism.

Glide Miru sliding partitions in cuvée mesh with a cuvée frame seamlessly divide the dining room, where the Synapsis table by Jean Marie Massaud, characterized by its oval shape cut at the ends, enchants with the unique design of its legs made from chrome-plated steel rods. Surrounding it are the Voyage chairs by GamFratesi, featuring a visible structure in natural turned solid maple and a natural leather covering that fits perfectly over the structure, shaping the backrest and seat, along with the Romby chairs by GamFratesi, whose conical base in solid black-stained ash, tapered in a wedge shape through a masterful woodworking exercise, connects to a soft and compact padded swivel seat covered in fabric.
Finally, in the home office area, a majestic System bookshelf in eucalyptus with an irregular pitch houses a central compartment for the television and includes a practical ladder to comfortably reach the higher shelves.
