A fundamental ingredient of Porro's interiors, wood with its rich colours is combined with natural leather and orange-red fabrics to give the home a magical autumnal atmosphere: a welcoming refuge in chromatic harmony with changing Nature. With an intrinsic ability to select, work and interpret wood, Porro offers architects and clients a unique selection of 17 essences in which anyone can find his preferred wood type and use it at will in systems and parts of the collection.
The processing of veneers, at the heart of Porro's production, selected and combined with great wisdom, is still manual.
The eye, the hand and the human taste are fundamental to obtain continuous "made to measure" surfaces, where you can read a direct thread between who designs and who realizes.
LOAD-IT bookshelf system, design by Wolfgang Tolk + Porro Research Centre
Designed by Wolfgang Tolk in 1995 and characterised by protruding shelves that cut through the space, the Load-it bookshelf system is a classic Porro item that has managed to maintain its strong iconic appeal over the years, progressively acquiring new functions and design possibilities in combination with the Modern cabinet system. This year it is presented in the version with steel shelves and wall panels in natural canneté, featuring a succession of horizontal and vertical stripes to create a material picture on the wall that can reach down to the floor and be completed by the suspended top in black-stained hemlock, thus becoming a refined TV area. An ingenious project, now enhanced by lighting: the adjustable spotlight with an on-and-off touch system can be placed anywhere along the electrified profile under the shelf thanks to its magnetic connection, illuminating the objects displayed on the shelves in a technical and museum-like way.
SYSTEM bookshelf and equipped wall system, design by Piero Lissoni + Porro Research Centre
The System bookshelf and equipped wall system changes its look through a new material and handcrafted design, i.e. the woven straw inserted on the back of the Grande Luce module. As a precious traditional material reinterpreted in a modern minimalist key, straw becomes officially part of the range of Porro materials and for the back panel of the System Grande Luce module it is available in 4 versions in 3 colours – black, sand and linen – for a total of 12 designs.
The large System composition in eucalyptus wood combines an elegant and convenient base element with drawers with a long shelf on top, where you can place your TV set and various objects as you wish or sit comfortably on the optional quilted leather cushion, an empty space in the middle with a back panel covered in woven straw – featuring a delicate and non-invasive texture that perfectly matches wood – and the transparent glass elements with an iron frame above, perfect for displaying rich collections inside. The LED lighting creates a magical interplay of light and shadow, enhancing the impact of this small piece of home architecture.
TRAVELLER, Design Gamfratesi
Standing out for a trestle structure in black painted metal, Traveller is an elegant and original daybed. The back support is provided by side backrests in leather with a “saddle effect”, robust but softened by the presence of a mattress and two cushions covered in fabric, leather and eco-leather, totally removable.
In the natural leather version, it matches perfectly with the Storage Boiserie in teak.
DRAPED CHAIR, Design Front
In a warm orange colour, Draped Chair is an upholstered seat, elegant and unquestionably feminine. Comfortable yet light in shape, it acquires a sense of movement through the inspiration of the drapery. A fabric softly resting on the wooden base, rises up with graceful folds to delineate the flexible armrests and the soft back.
SCHERMO, Design Alessandro Mendini
The chromatic exuberance of wood is the protagonist in Schermo, a square cupboard raised on a base with sloping hinged doors. The inlaid design on the front is achieved by combining three different type of wood, elm, oak and acacia, with an abstract geometric composition. It belongs to a small limited-edition series counting 99 unique pieces signed by Alessandro Mendini: exquisite and collectible furniture, between art and design.
