Porro Collection 2020-2021 – straw details

01.07.21

As a precious traditional material reinterpreted in a modern minimalist key, straw becomes officially part of Porro’s range of materials, which selectes a small refined collection for its systems and collections. Along the path of continuous evolution without forgetting the knowledge handed down from generation to generation, interweaving past and future in an original interpretation, Porro continues its research on shapes, materials and technologies, which proceeds in the direction of the utmost visual purity without sacrificing the accuracy of details, for unique and unrepeatable bespoke solutions, to be designed every time with the end customers according to their desires.

System bookshelves and equidded walls
Design Piero Lissoni + CRS Porro, 1995
For 2020, the System bookshelf and equipped wall system changes its look through a new material and handcrafted design, i.e. the woven straw inserted on the back of the Grande Luce module, available in 4 versions in 3 colours – black, sand and linen – for a total of 12 designs.
The large System composition in eucalyptus wood combines an elegant and convenient base element with drawers with a long shelf on top, where you can place your TV set and various objects as you wish or sit comfortably on the optional quilted leather cushion, an empty space in the middle with a back panel covered in woven straw – featuring a delicate and non-invasive texture that perfectly matches wood – and the transparent glass elements with an iron frame above, perfect for displaying rich collections inside. The LED lighting creates a magical interplay of light and shadow, enhancing the impact of this small piece of home architecture.

Byron bed
Design Piero Lissoni
Fascinating lifestyles, special finishes, concrete emotions: Porro brings its very personal style to the bedroom as well. A textile bed with an intimate and compact shape, Byron consists of 3 elements: the padded bed frame slightly raised from the floor, the soft headboard cushions where you can linger reading before falling asleep, and the screen at the bottom of the bed that seems to embrace the space and protect the rest. The lines are soft, the edges rounded, with the sophisticated detail of the screen with a black-stained solid ash frame that encloses a straw weave featuring a graphic black and white houndstooth pattern, in a balance between contemporaneity and memory, concrete and abstract.

Curry sofa
Design Piero Lissoni
The new Curry sofa with reduced depth, resulting from the transformation of the Curry daybed presented in 2018, is ideal in a lobby, in a waiting area or to play with several models placed next to each other to create independent islands for relaxation. Featuring a geometric matrix, with a trapezoidal shape, it draws inspiration from the East: the structure in solid black stained ash becomes the frame for the backrest in black dyed woven straw – a perfect combination of design and craftsmanship that reveals the essence of the new Porro 2021 creations.
