Porro’s unique skills on wood, translated into the ability to articulate it in an always-new manner, is demonstrated by EDIDA, ELLE DECO INTERNATIONAL DESIGN AWARDS 2014, that was awarded to Mikado cupboard during the Salone del Mobile for Best Furniture, following the award for Best Seating, won last year by the Gentle chair.
A prize that recognize the path of rediscovering prized manufacturing techniques from the past, traditions which are reinterpreted in a modern and abstract vision: from the curved wood for the Gentle chair combined with the leather that softens it, to the inlay of the Inlay containers translated into lively material patterns, up to the matching of wooden slates in the Mikado chest, bent and crossed allowing to see the inside, three of the projects created by the company together with the Swedish Front designers with the goal of reconciling the seriality of production with the uniqueness of a handmade piece.
A course of research that also continues in 2014 with the new Loop Mirror: with their visionary look, the delicate feminine touch and the capacity to envision new uses of the material, Front knot its wooden frame to create a loop, a protruding shelf which becomes a refined decorative detail tracing in the space the symbol of infinity.
