Strength, purity and a commitment to sustainability: the new Origata collection by Nao Tamura makes its debut at Porro London amidst the brand’s systems and collections, blending advanced technology and meticulous craftsmanship.
For the third consecutive year, Porro takes part in the London Design Festival showcasing its expertise in architectural design, pure shapes, extremely precise workmanship and material innovation. Opened in September 2022, the Porro London showroom is located in the King Cross area north of the city, inside the historic brick building along Regent’s Canal, where designer Tom Dixon’s headquarters are also located.
The new 2024 collection is represented by the new Origata consolle designed by the Japanese designer Nao Tamura.
A monolithic design, Origata console and bench draw inspiration from the art of making kimonos, the traditional Japanese garment. Similar to how kimonos are crafted from a flat, rectangular fabric that is cut in straight lines and sewn together to minimize waste, these pieces of furniture are created from a single sheet of aluminum that is cut and assembled using screws, maximizing the use of material.
Ideal in a waiting area, entrance or in the bedroom, in both home and hospitality contexts, the Origata consolle frames an ascetic space for work or meditation, offering a support surface for writing, reading or working on the PC. A project that combines simple gestures and aesthetic simplification, giving voice to the values shared by the designer and the brand - cultural identity, internationalism, respect for materials and a propensity for the future.
In the dining room - meeting room, vibrating in the space and capturing the eye for the delicate nuances of nature, the Materic Ovale table by Piero Lissoni has an oval top and a truncated cone base both in solid Latte ash wood: a silent object epitomizing visual harmony, poetically minimal. It is accompanied by the Neve chairs by Piero Lissoni in black stained ash with black eco-leather upholstered seat and back, a network of sharp lines with different thicknesses.
The company systems freely articulate the space: bright and light, Storage system of wardrobes by Piero Lissoni + CRS Porro is a true architecture designing the space. It is presented in black sugi, an enveloping, extremely sophisticated finish, antique and modern at the same time, combined with the black painted metal frame and the transparent glass doors. The light embedded in the shelf highlights Storage graphic design and follows its lines, transforming it into a stage for your clothes and objects.
The Modern storage unit system is presented with a new cupboard for a kaleidoscope of materials and finishes, from frassino bianco wood, to arancio Siena lacquer.
The Modern + Load-it equipped wall, combining Load-it bookcase by Wolfgang Tolk in steel and mirror and Modern writing desk by Piero Lissoni + CRS Porro and Brina stool by Piero Lissoni, telling the public of architects and creatives just one of the endless possibilities of Porro’s tailor-made project.
